The 1872 Switzerland 5 Francs Zürich Shooting Festival (Schützentaler) is one of the most desirable early Swiss shooting medals struck in coin form. Issued for the Eidgenössisches Schützenfest in Zürich, these large silver pieces were produced in limited numbers and are highly prized today — especially in Proof format.

The obverse features Helvetia standing and resting her hand on the Swiss shield. Proof examples show deep mirrored fields with frosted devices, giving the design superb contrast and presence.
