Struck as emergency coinage by the Bank of England, this impressive silver dollar features the laureate and draped bust of King George III on the obverse, with Britannia seated left amid maritime and commercial symbols on the reverse, all within a garter surmounted by a five‑turreted “castle” crown. Overstruck on a Spanish 8 reales, it was issued to supplement the shortage of regal silver and circulated at a value of five shillings.
