The 1910 Australia Silver Threepence is one of the most historically important coins in the Commonwealth series, representing the first official year of Australian national coinage. Prior to 1910, Australia used British‑struck currency; this inaugural issue marks the beginning of Australia’s own pre‑decimal system.

Struck at the Royal Mint, London in sterling silver (.925), the 1910 threepence carries the crowned portrait of King Edward VII, engraved by George William de Saulles. This portrait was used across British and Commonwealth silver denominations until the King’s death in May 1910, making this the only Australian threepence to feature Edward VII.
The reverse displays the Australian coat of arms, with the kangaroo and emu supporting the shield — a design that would remain in use until 1936. As a first‑year issue, the 1910 threepence is widely collected for its historical significance, attractive silver content, and its position at the very start of Australia’s national coinage.
Examples with original tone, sharp detail, and clean fields are increasingly sought after by collectors of Commonwealth silver, Edward VII portrait coinage, and early Australian pre‑decimal issues.
