The 1936 George V Shilling is the final shilling issued during the reign of King George V, struck in .500 silver as part of the late‑milled coinage series. The coin features the classic bare‑head portrait by Bertram Mackennal and the iconic crowned lion atop a quartered shield reverse — one of the most recognisable designs of early‑20th‑century British silver.
The 1936 issue is collected both as a type coin and as the last shilling before the short‑lived Edward VIII period.
The obverse carries the bare‑headed portrait of King George V, facing left. The legend GEORGIVS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX surrounds the bust. This portrait, engraved by Sir Bertram Mackennal, is characteristic of the late‑Georgian silver series.
