Historical Note
Issued shortly after independence, the 1964 Congo banknotes were among the first currency designs of the new Republic. Specimen notes with serial AA000000 were prepared for officials and dignitaries, making them exceptionally rare. The 1000 Francs denomination is the highest of the series, and specimens are seldom seen on the market today.
